This City Breathes the Plague of Loving Things

2011

The idea of you makes me feel unsettled.

And of course, it’s not just you, but the connotations of everything that you mean. The end of freedom. The end of self protection. The beginning of endless amounts of frustration.

But, it also means the beginnings of thinking about someone other than myself, and my, what a glorious thing that is.

I’ve never been one for grand words, so I borrowed words from people far more eloquent than me.

I’ve never been one for grand gestures either, but I wanted to make something that would encapsulate this feeling in the most permanent way possible.

That way when I can finally snap out of this, there’s a record for posterity of what you’ve done to me.

These are photographs taken by a Diana + camera on expired film, transferred onto plaster.
